Milltown cemetery records
« on: December 22, 2014, 03:32:11 PM »
If someone is close to Milltown Cemetery can they please help me locate a grave?  I can't find any burial records for my Great Great Granny Ann Keegan in the Belfast City Council records, so my last hope is Milltown.  She died 8th March 1902 and lived at 16 Short Strand with her daughter Margaret O'Hara nee Keegan.

Also having difficulties locating a death or burial for her husband Robert Keegan, I only know he died before she did.  Hopefully I might find him in the same grave.  Any help would be great

Speedwobble. .If you try Irish Roots you might have some success.     or the family search network which is the Mormon's site.

If your relation died before 1922 the records , what is left of them, will be held at the Irish records site in Dublin and Irish roots have access to them.   :)

Thanks Sj but I've tried the Familysearch site etc and can't find Robert Keegan.  The sites will record Ann Keegans death but they won't tell me where she is buried and who (if anyone) is buried with her.

GRONI have death/birth/marriage records going beyond 1922 and you can buy them and view them online.  Need to be careful though, before long you can spen a wee fortune searching with them.

Called the guys at Milltown and they were very helpful but they have no record of my GG Granny being buried there.  She may have been buried in public ground but the record book for that won't be available until February.  I sure have an elusive Granny. LOL

Some of the Milltown records are available at www.ancestryireland.com but its a subscription site.
I searched for Robert and Ann Keegan with no luck. There was only 1 Ann Keegan but she died in 1891 and no Robert's.
Do you know when/where they were married ?

The Ann Keegan who died in 1902 , is shown as 43yrs old:
D/1902/57/1007/42/50   Ann   Keegan   8th March 1902   43      Female   Belfast

Is she the same one as listed on the 1901 census as "50yrs" ?

That's her Sam, obviously a mistake with the age.  The family lived in Bank Street before her husband Robert died, Thomas Keegan aged 11 was my Great Grandfather.

The Milltown records on the 'AncestryIreland' website only cover the years 1869 - 1895, so unfortunately you will not find confirmation of Ann Keegan's burial there.

If there are any images posted above that are important to you, take your own copy - I cannot guarantee they will appear indefinitely.

speedwobble,
I've been waiting for Milltown records to come online for such a long time, but sadly, they only go up to 1895.  I cannot find members of my family pre this date and can only assume they are dumped in the paupers graves and if not, where are they?  I'm not holding out much hope of these records being complete/accurate.... just a thought

HELP NEEDED - Milltown Cemetery Burial Records
« Reply #12 on: November 24, 2019, 10:30:26 AM »
My great grandfather William (Kane) O'Hara from 17 Grahams Place (1901 census), and 7 Vulcan Street (1911 census) died in December 1914 at the age of 53.
At this time they had had 6 children (2 deceased) leaving William (my grandfather), John, Nellie and Mary Jane.
His wife Margaret (nee Keegan) died 1962 at the age of 83.

I would like to know where the great grandparents are buried in Milltown.
Can someone please advise me how to find this information??
