Hi Breadbasket

May I ask for a check on a Robert Bailey, Occupation Engineer, maybe Manager. The last time I have an address for Robert was 1943 at 12 Glenmachan Street, I do know through another Belfast Forum viewer that by 1950 he was gone.

I assume for ease that the 1960/1969 Directory has an Alpha section and just not street listings

Thank you.

Not in the 1965 Directory but did he have any children that might have survived him as they might show up.

Hi Timmo

Thought this one was not going to be easy. No signs of the family after 1943. either, they moved out of Belfast or further afield for pastures new.  Robert and his wife Ellen Fairman married in 1937, as I have been looking at Ni-Direct there are no births recorded because of the 100 year rule, pity, something to save until a trip to Belfast.  Any children would be my second cousins.

Thank you for your interest, much appreciated.

RTB.....No Baileys at number 12 Glenmachan St in either 1960 or 1969 Directory. However there is a names of 2 x R. Baileys recorded in the 1960 Directory
Bailey. R    Grocer, 7 Bridge End
Bailey R.T.S. reps; 40 Marlborought Pk  N

There are NO R. Baileys in the 1969 Directory.

Have you tried serching Deaths   :-\ :-\ at GRONI.....50 year rule on that one.

Hi Bread Basket.

Thank you for the search.

Feel sure it is neither of these two R Baileys.  Have checked as much as possible on-line for any demise of this family.  Have tried groni, thankfully I did not find him there as I would have killed him off by the age 53yrs, saying that, that one is feasible. Granddad John Watson Bailey was only 45yrs.

I will keep on looking.

Regards

Richard

Hi Timmo

Thank you for the search.

I have filed this one, I don't believe it is the right girl. age out by about 9yrs, though that does not mean anything, the middle christian name would be new, again, nothing unusual.

Have spent the past morning looking for this couple, and Roberts sister Elizabeth and husband Thomas Radcliffe, who were the witnesses at Robert & Ellen's wedding 1937, again nothing. Seems the newer the data is the harder to find.

Thank you for the thought.

Hi Richard in the case of dates of birth and so forth it is a good policy to be very circumspect about such things especially when it comes to those day. they have been known to be out by some 10 years or more in some cases. It has been said that it had something to do with pensions.  I'll try and do a bit of looking for the other names you have mentioned.
