I think that I could run faster than Hugh????    I don't think that Hugh was an Astorite ........a fan of the Astor ?  Where did you dance Hugh? ;)  Bernie and I were both discerning dancers and went to the Astor but she had I think more time than I had. I spent a lot of time with your wifes brother in law.( working and study )

Hugh......Did your Bernie eventually move to the Duncairn Gdns?.   I moved to Wexford and became asst manager of White's which was then a small hotel in an extension mode and then I came to the Slieve Donard as ast manager.  Wexford was a lovely place with lovely people and the girls were delighted to meet a stranger. :)
I went to dances at the ******* hotel , Rosslare,on the strand ,which had wonderful dances.

It was Kellys who had the dances.  Next time in Wexford have a look at Whites hotel on the main St .....behind which was born Oscar Wildes mother.?  Great history....just around the corner from Whites is a ruin which was Selskar Abbey where Henry 2nd came to do penance after the murder of Thomas Beckett ( Archbishop of Canterbury )

There was a chippy on the road across from Burlington street, Didn't Rosie Hughes have siblings Ann&Jim? Think he may've worked for the post office,

Hi Dark Lady

Relatives of my family were also caught up in the air raid on Burke Street and sadly they all lost their lives. I think the entire street was wiped out.

It's good to know some good news came from that terrible time. I'm sure your grandfather was devastated when he first heard.

Five of my grandfather's relatives died. The eldest was 72 and the youngest was only 3 years old - all from the same family. Sad times.
