I was born in 42 Thompson St. in 1955.Lived in The Strand until moving to Carrick in 1968.Now living in  New zealand.Great friends from back then include Gerald Morgan,Michael O'Donnell,John McMahon,Jackie Gartland (all from ThompsonSt).My brother Thomas and sister Lisa still live there. Both my parents Sena McGregor(nee McConvery)and father John/Jack/Jackie are dead.Great place to grow up. Nellie Morgan(mentioned in an earlier post)was Gerald's grannie.Looking back it was, pretty much, a ghetto but we knew no difference when we were growing up.Pa Hump(Mr.Hill) was headmaster and my favourite teacher was Frank McKeever.Any info on any of the above names would be ,greatly, appreciated.

Michael o'donnell is my uncle, i used to live in 69 thompson street. Maura O'Donnell is my mummy, Jackie Gartland is dead now too, his brother is Danny who still lives in the strand

lol well my mummy still has glasses alough they are alot smaller. .i dont think she has changed much. Still a button for my uncle joe!

Michael is dead on, as far as i know he works in downpatrick now, drugs awareness councelor or something.

Yes theresa still lives there, she has 4 daughters. .mairead also still lives there and has 6 children and christopher lives in dundalk and has 2 sons.

I take it your surname is McGregor? Your brother Thomas used to live beside Theresa.

Taken about 1955 in Woodstock Street.
The lad is Jimmy Creaney and one of the girls is a wee O'Donnell  (I think)

We were all happy street urchins then.  .Tink

What a great photo. Oh those gingham skirts and dresses. Anyone recall the McGloins in Madrid Street just below Dr Boyds which later became wee Dr McKees? There was Kay and Terry and May, Peter and wee Michael.
