Was it 'Stitt's', married onto Youngs. I think the Stitt's were from the Newtownard's road....(Rab Young's family!)

Yes - I think their name was also Young. As kids we had a rhyme relating to the owner and the merchandise. Charming little verse - 'May Young, horse's dung, stick a penny up her bum, down comes chewing gum'. Ah, the halcyon days in which true poetry found its origins.

It wasn't Young's shop in the sixties, they had a small house shop in Arran called Kerry's (Young) May Young worked there.
