Glandore Ave Belfast old Photos
« on: February 08, 2017, 10:51:04 PM »
Glandore Avenue and surrounding area in North Belfast as had many beautiful buildings demolished. I found old site map of an old school house facing house number 21 Glandore Ave . Does anyone have any picture of this old tree lined street ? Are there any interesting stories about the area?[/size]
I bought house number 25 and realised from the brickwork there would have been and adjoining awing / canope to the semi next door 23. I want to rebuild it to the original design but need a reference. Any help or old photos would be much appreciated

That was a primary school which was closed in early 1960s and the pupils then went to Skegoniel School which was brand new and was at the top of Salisbury Avenue. Unfortunately, the only picture I have is in my mind's eye, sorry

Hi
Would you be able to give me a description of how the old school house looked?
Was it a red brick Victorian style building over two floors?
Thanks

CARL HUGHES,  there was indeed a primary school  it was called Glandore I have sent you the wrong information regarding that school. I went to Skegoniel not the new one in Salisbury Avenue but the old one just off the Antrim Road I think it was in  Chichester Park, been away that long I have forgotten street names.  Anyhow it was an  old red brick two story building and our sports field was in Salisbury Avenue where the school is now, I am sure if you called into the school someone parents or grandparent's might remember.
