Oh dear, David Thomson, one of three top managers in the Department of Enterprise Trade and Investment at the time, didn't exactly vindicate himself today...

He said cost controls which were included in a public consultation in 2013 should have been brought forward ... He said he did not know why it had not happened but said there had been "no conscious decision" to defer them ... He said had that decision been taken he would have expected to have been told and it ought to have been escalated to the minister Arlene Foster.

'Somewhere along the line someone is making these decisions,' said inquiry chair Sir Patrick Coghlin.  Mr Thomson accepted that he bore a degree of responsibility for the department losing sight of the need for the review.

Oh dear, another civil servant at fault.

Another milestone in the Inquiry, another key admission of fault, and another civil servant right at the very heart of it.

The appearance of the manager directly responsible for looking after the day-to-day running of the scheme reveals that he 'didn't really understand what was going on'

By his own admission he didn't even reply to a whistleblower's email questioning whether it was right that energy should be wasted for profit and alleging that many firms were doing it.

Didn't really know what was going on. That is the lamest excuse I have heard yet.

:)  "DUP adviser's family has 11 boilers"

"A former DUP special adviser to Arlene Foster has told the RHI inquiry that his family members have 11 boilers linked to the botched green energy scheme."

"Dr Andrew Crawford, giving evidence before the inquiry on Thursday morning, said that he never discussed the attractive tariffs available to RHI applicants with his brother James or two cousins, despite the three of them having 11 boilers between them."

His family began to install the boilers while he was working as a special adviser at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment- the department that was responsible for bringing in the doomed scheme.

Dr Crawford also told the inquiry he felt the DUP pinned the blame on him when the RHI scandal broke in the media.

He said: "In my mind I was blamed unfairly, and in my mind, a course of action was taken to put my name out there, and look- you talked yesterday about grubby politics- that's how politics works in terms of if there is a crisis is somebody going to fall for it, how do we deal with it, how do we manage it.

"I have always been sore about the way it was dealt with in December and January. Because I believe there was work going on behind the scenes to basically pin the blame on me if possible."

I was portrayed as instigator of delays by DUP: Crawford

DUP Spads RHI

What a way to run a Government. Dear God.
Unelected special advisors telling ministers what to do, and setting policy to feather their own nests.
All at a cost to the 6 counties of around 500 million.
This at a time when Hospitals and schools suffer.
Timothy Johnston (CEO DUP) seemingly a 'he who must be obeyed', and the unelected chief of the tribe.
Timothy Cairns, Andrew Crawford etc, all more feared by DUP politicans than anyone else.
Sordid sexual infidelity of DUP Politicians, spads feathering their own nests, DUP MLA's drunk in NewYork on foreign trade missions, threats of fingers being broken, past DUP first minister (peter robinson) being called Frankenstein and accused of giving birth to a monster (johnathen bell), egotistical personalities over ruling good government, greed at the expence of english tax payers (only it ended up that the 6 county block grant paid for it 500million).
What a bunch of headcases....😕
Thanks for the extended suffering of those on long NHS waiting lists or those in education with special needs, waiting on funding to help them.
Yet the same headcases voted in again, when the Union Jack is raised...😕😨
Unionism badly represented....this is a greater threat to their Union.
DUP now boycotting Nolan BBC.
Pull a chair up, and get the popcorn...😊

Their should be criminal prosecutions, with what is coming out of the RHI enquiry.
White collar crime, no more no less.

"11 September 2018"
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-45484881

"RHI: DUP advisers in dispute over delay to RHI cost controls"

"Two former DUP special advisers (Spads) have disputed events at a meeting in which it was claimed one told the other that cost controls would not be introduced to the RHI scheme."

"Timothy Cairns alleged the DUP's most senior official, Timothy Johnston, made the comment."

"Mr Johnston said he did not give the instruction at the June 2015 meeting."

"Mr Cairns was Jonathan Bell's Spad at the enterprise department when applications to the scheme spiralled."

"He is giving two days of evidence to the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) inquiry, which was set up to investigate what went wrong with the flawed energy scheme."

"The inquiry heard the meeting was held on 26 June 2015, to "clear the air" between Mr Cairns and Mr Bell, after the pair had a major row in London."

"After that item was addressed, Mr Cairns said the issue of RHI was raised."

"Mr Johnston, who is now the DUP's chief executive, has a completely contrasting account of the meeting."

"He claims it was also attended by the then First Minister, Peter Robinson, something Mr Cairns has rejected."

Etcetera. !

My note,... are official records of those types of meetings not made at the time,... and if not, why not. ?! Also, surely a Minister would have an official diary which would list any meeting that he or she attended. ?!

"Arlene Foster told Stephen Nolan that the DUP's most senior official Timothy Johnston had no role in delaying cost controls to the RHI scheme"

In January 2017 Jonathan Bell appeared on the Stephen Nolan TV show to discuss the RHI scheme scandal.

"An in depth look at the RHI scandal which has caused the collapse of the government in Northern Ireland."

"Seeing the first guy praying/being prayed for before he starts the interview was more than a bit strange, but it made some sense when you see him throwing everyone he can under the bus - the bus that he was supposed to be driving. !"

Stephen Nolan also interviewed Arlene in that programme.
