1134 squadon was located behind the houses in Oldpark Ave on the edge of the cricket ground
moved around 1969 to Girdwood and became the HQ for NI

I was in 1136 squadron which was in the Waverly Hotel in Waring St. Great fun I loved it. The CO was Bill(?) Monroe. They took us flying at Sydenham and to RAF camp in England etc. But the best was when I got to go to a gliding course in East Anglia for a week. I did three solos in an old Kirby Cadet glider that looked like o t was held together by string!
Unforgettable!

Yes I remember it well... had the meetings on a Sunday down in those portacabin things at the bottom end, just around from the Antrim Road gates. I was there in the late 70's. Had us on an annual camp over to RAF Abingdon. Just can't remember the name of the old Station Warrant Officer who was in charge of us. Funny old guy, really down to earth. I know that he came from the Albertbridge Road area.

I didn't know that there was an ATC sqdn 1134 in the OldPark road area.I liven on Agnes St. and was i  the 1919 sqdn from 1954 to 1957, 1919 was down the Shore Road in Newtownabby.
Me and my 3 mates walked there every Thursday night. We also went to RAF station Halton in Buckinghamshire (I think) in the summer.1919 Sqdn is still in operation. The ATC sure is a lot different now they do a lot more stuff than we ever did and have netter uniforms and equipment too.

Yes, I was a C.I. in 1134 and then went on to be Squadron Chairman. It was in Girdwood and then the regular army chucked the T.A. and all others out. 1134 ended up facing where the Milk Marketing Board was on the Antrim Road (Firmount). It used to be an army cadet place.

I was a member of 1134 squadron when it was at Old Park Avenue joined in 1963 left in 1967 when family moved to England. Some names i can recall first Squadron CO was Flt. Lt Reid he was follower by Flt Lt Cadden. the Adult WO was Mr Gilvary very quite man he stayed manly in store. My best mate there was Tom Smith long since lost contact. I also did a gliding course but mine was at RAF spitilgate which was the WRAF training unit, it was a great week. I went to many camps even got to Germany. Anybody out there want to add to this would love to hear from them.

I was in squadron at the same time  up until it moved to Girdwood .I remember Flt Sgt Tom Smith who I was also friend with he went on to join the RAF.
also Drill Sgt mc Cormick from Ardoyne.   who put all the rookies through their paces. WO Mr Gilvary was the back bone of the squadan,
kept us all amused with his stories.
lads came from all over Ardoyne  Newlodge  Falls and even Andytown
Went to summer camp in RAF Doncaster RAF Kinloss  Also would go up the shankill on a Saturday afternoon to a indoor shooting range behind a chip shop .Flying RAF Aldergrove looping theloop
Great times before the troubles

Sorry Tonyo like you lost contact with Tom   .Perhaps he will pop up or someone else will know of him.  I also went to RAF  Spitilgate May 1967
for gliding course with my good school mate Gerry Ross. we joined  the ATC together and still remain friends.
