A ULCC (Ultra Large Crude Carrier) being built for Shell Tankers at Harland & Wolff, Belfast in the 1970`s.   :)

S.S. 'Lampas'   delivered in November 1975, the first of four 313,000 tons deadweight Ultra Large Crude Carriers built for Shell Tankers Ltd, by Harland & Wolff, Belfast. Even bigger ships would soon follow, from Harlands.  :)

This was the bid from Harland & Wolff to the Cunard Line to replace the `Queen Elizabeth` with the `QE2`. John Brown in Glasgow got the contract, but the Harland & Wolff vessel. looks remarkably similar, apart from the funnel.   :)

Breadbasket and Jack,
Once again, very many thanks for posting such beautiful photographs of our heritage
-never will we ever be equal to our Forefathers-men apart -thankfully they do not have
to see the way the City of Belfast has gone.
