Belfast boxer - Carl the Jackal Frampton - new BBC TV documentary
« on: September 27, 2018, 01:55:03 AM »
A current BBC TV documentary has just been produced about Belfast boxer Carl the Jackal Frampton, which includes commentary from the boxer.

Documentary.  "Frampton: Return of the Jackal"
https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0bllpc5

"This programme tells the story of boxer Carl Frampton, 'the Jackal', at a career-defining moment - a fight at his beloved Windsor Park. As a working-class Protestant from Belfast who has harboured a lifelong dream of walking out at the venue in front of an adoring crowd, this is his Mecca, his one-in-a-lifetime spiritual homecoming."

"With unique, intimate access to Carl's life both inside and away from the ring in the build-up to the fight, the programme takes the viewer on a privileged journey, fashioning a bold and memorable portrait of a fighter at his peak, a father and family man, making sense of his place in history and his status as a 5ft 5in titan of a community searching for its own identity and purpose in an ever-changing world."

"Indeed, the film is about far more than just boxing. Rather the sport, and in particular Carl's character, provide the perfect prism to view much broader issues, such as Protestant identity, tribalism, class, tradition and history, in a global 21st century Northern Ireland. This is a film about a community and a country, told through Carl's own meteoric rise and return to the city that forged his steely resilience."

Carl is the Man.
He's an ordinary guy reared in an ordinary Belfast family
Now rearing his own wee Belfast family
Wish him and his family all the Best because they deserve it .

Carl Frampton showed real humility in both defeats to fighters who are at the elite level at the weight.

He is genuinely a sports personality Belfast should take pride in. I was saddened to hear that Carl feels incapable of bowing out after the Warrington defeat. It can't be easy when you have risen to world level and you are offered that kind of money, but essentially he is a humble, family man. There was never any arrogance or 'other side' to Carl Frampton. He went out and gave it his all and his all was better than any man at his weight in the world of a time.

It would be truly sickening to see Carl sustain any kind of brain damage. Get out now, kid. The last bell rings for every fighter. You are more articulate than most in the game and a sports commentary job can pay more than the purse you picked up for fighting. Ask Paulie Malignanni, albeit Paulie is truly exceptional as a presenter.
