it is a huge problem everywhere. here in London there are not enough shelters or day centres  to keep up with the homelessness  the government is talking yet again about building more social housing but then they sell them off  to tenants at silly prices leaving none to pass on to others who need social housing in the future . I think it is the worst bill that  was ever passed. Margaret  thatcher brought it in . people were living in highly subsidised properties and then given the chance to purchase then  they sold on privately for huge profit . social housing should stay social housing . The councils are putting  the needy people  in the properties they sold for peanuts and giving them benefits to cover the  exorbitant rents  now asked!!! badly managed .when the monies could be used to build  new properties . I am very fortunate to own my home but we need more homes for the less well off  at reasonable rents . its not gona happen anytime soon .

I don't think Paul Mc Cusker would be checking those in need, if they are professional beggars or not. 🤔🙄

No self respecting 'professional beggar', would been seen dead in a soup kitchen. No money on offer, you see, just a bowl of soup.  ::)
