Doing Money. A shocking drama.
« on: November 06, 2018, 11:58:10 PM »
Watched this programme last night and was shocked beyond belief.
How some can say this story was made up to bring in a law criminalising people paying for sex is unbelievable.
And to think that so called reporter stephen nolan poked fun at the proposed law when discussing it a few years back is disgusting.

I haven't watched this yet either and I don't want to get into the precise arguments about the law forbidding paying for sex - there are so many views on the topic. I can't recall if the NI law was called for most by Jim Allister or was it Maurice Morrow? Could argue all day about its viability or effects but, although I would disagree with both men about most things, whoever it was - I don't doubt their motives were good. I watched a programme on women being hired from countries like the Philippines, Kenya and Cameroon, I think. Not for sex but for so-called domestic service - actually slavery, abuse, non-payment, humiliation, degradation. To countries like Saudi Arabia - no surprise there. Thing was the 'agent' and the 'agencies' were willing to come on and describe themselves as the 'better' type of agency. I fumed all evening - really annoyed. Add to that even the possibility of sexual abuse or sex-slavery and if I think of my granddaughters - tell you what - at least the law is an attempt to do something - I think after watching that programme I would have voted with Jim or Maurice!!

Be warned it is shocking and hard to watch at times.

Tis truly shocking. The scene just before the end when a young trafficked woman sex slave who is used for domination is introduced and says to the other girl "you get used to anything after a while" was horrible. The lady pimp then says "i cant make money with this monster" referring to the young girl whos face is covered in scars from abuse This was what finally made anna flee.

If you do watch it make sure you have a box of hankies close by. I shed a tear a few times when watching it.

I remember reading last  year an article on sex trafficking               it contained criticism on the

endless study/effects/tramatisation of sex trafficking on victims       .    surprise/surprise  rightly so

what I didn't agree with in the article was             the condemnation of sloppy reporting in the media

where trafficking is often conflated with prostitution       .    victims are lumped in with consenting sex

workers      .      there is almost never any discussion of motive           this eventually becomes

problematic for women traffickers           who were once themselves victims      .    even still are

I don't for one moment believe this to be the case          in the drama in question          by the

way         you are way too generous in describing the pimp as a  "lady"             I'd describe her as the slag

from hell        .

Pimps can be male or female. In the case of anna it was a man and a woman who pimped her.

Pimps Ionut and Schwarz were caught and jailed for two years for controlling prostitution.

2 years is not long enough. On the trafficker and pimp site "Escort Ireland" the posters are denying it happened.
They are saying it is made up.
If you look at the posters so called independent escorts and so called punters(with reviews of dodgy escort profiles/fake pictures and mobile numbers linked to multiple escort profiles) its not hard to work out that they are more than likely pimps themselves.
