Looking for cousin
« on: December 19, 2018, 01:24:15 PM »
I am trying to make contact with my cousin Margrette Kineare who lived in the end house to the right of the school. Her mother's name was Tilley and father was John. Brothers were John and Danny.
Our Grandfather was a postman and grandmothers name was a Serah.
I was born at 50 Susan street March 1945.
One character in the street was 'Queeny'.
We used to play on the steps of the school at the end of the street. I have not seen Margarette since the 1960s.
I've gone back to visit the street but the old terrace houses have gone.
I think Margareete worked in a bakery on the Newtownards road.
Can anyone help.

The school was Beechfield School,... and there may be a spelling error with the surname.

In the 1951 Belfast Street Directory, the head of household for 55 Susan Street is listed as,...

"55. Kinnier, J., labourer (Kinnear, W. in 1943)"

http://www.lennonwylie.co.uk/scomplete1951.htm

In Dundonald Cemetery, there is a grave with four people who appear to be relevant to the address.

http://www.belfastcity.gov.uk/community/burialrecords/burialrecords.aspx

Clara Kinnier       55 Susan Street  died 15 October 1948  aged  1 Year 10 Months

Clara Coyle        43 Susan Street  died    4 June 1976  age  unknown

Matilda Kinnier  87 Tower Street    died  2 February 1985  age 63

John Kinnier      Strathearn Nursing Home Belmont  died 1 October 1992 age 68

So it appears that KINNIER is the correct spelling.
