My great grandfather was a Berthing Master during these times and I’ve no doubt he is featured in some of the clips.
Growing up at the docks was a great experience, the smells, the hustle and bustle, the characters, the parlours turned into shops, the cartwheels on the cobbles,   and then there were the people, they were the salt of the earth. Mrs McStavick with her black shawl; sending me to Pat Kings for a quarter ounce of snuff. Ma Carson hitting me round the bake with a chicken 😂😂😂 all priceless memories for me, big Alec McVeigh holding a bunch of beaten Bookies Dockets.
