Time to move on, or so some say  ??? ???

https://www.newsletter.co.uk/news/anger-as-belfast-city-hall-to-be-lit-up-in-support-of-irish-language-act-1-8765696

Perfectly right and perfectly justified. That the vote demonstrates our [both sides] tendency to want to politicise everything [e.g. the memorial to Blitz victims was non-political in my view] is a pity. The Irish language existed long before either side of this debate and it is neither orange or green. Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam' - a country without a language is a country without a soul! The Irish language is one way of enriching the soul; I find no problem in how English language has enriched my and the island's cultural and literary heritage and allowed access to English literature. Nobody should object to the possibility of anyone enriching their lives with the Irish language.

The bigger question is Why are the
Unionists so against it ?

Perhaps it would be best to restrict the colours of the City Hall to Christmas -there could no way
that was an issue with either side.

Just a thought-IMHO.

You might be right Jilly, but then we might offend the none believers  :)
after all, Christmas is supposed to be a Religious occasion,
But most of us know in the six Counties,Religion and politics go hand in hand,
The " Language act " should not be about religion but we know it is,
  and that's a shame.

At least the CITY HALL is now showing their proper colours -----  the colour of their Ambition ===  UNITED MARXIST LENINIST IRELAND.
When will the I.R.A. pay Compensation to their Innocent Victims or Relatives.

You can speak it, but God help you if someone doesn't agree with you

That would be ideal, but unfortunately it wouldn't suit those with an agenda.  ::)

Well jjmack-those with an Agenda -why do we tolerate them?

I am absolutely convinced that all decent people want the same thing.
To live their lives just in an ordinary way.

The freedom to do so,without those characters who think they have a right
to act as Judge and Jury over both communities in the City of Belfast and
Londonderry in particular-and also in the country regions.
I know its very hard for the people to come out and denounce them-but to my
mind its the only way to eradicate them and put them behind bars-preferably
for life.
The lives they have wrecked deserves no less a sentence IMHO.
