Belfast Workhouse.
« on: January 25, 2019, 02:00:54 PM »
I am looking for ANY advertisement in ANY Newspapers placed by the Belfast Workhouse looking for Placements/Parents/Carers for New Born Babies born 1928.

Could someone help in this find please? Or if you could point me in the right direction that would be equally appreciated.

Seasons.

James Thank you for this reply it has been very useful but not bringing up the answer I'm searching for.

I'm searching  for a very specific Advert Placed by The Board of Guardians from the Workhouse  to (Place) a 2Month old baby boy August/September 1928  - I believe from PRONI these types of Adverts were placed on a regular basic to have babies moved into family homes  - this is of course before Official Adoptions came into law in Northern Ireland.

These wee Babies were left destitute by Mothers who just couldn't for one reason or another look after them. - Thank God we live in easier and better times now!

Can someone just confirm if 3 Belfast Papers were printing at that time.

Belfast Telegraph
News Letter
Northern Whig

Many Thanks

Seasons

All those three were Seasons.

Also the Irish News-although it merged in the late 1800`s with The Belfast Morning News

and went under that name for some years-so maybe still in 1928.

Perhaps as The Irish News & Belfast Morning News.
Good luck in your search.

jilly :)

JJ for some reason your posts are out of time.
I posted to Seasons when you had not.
Then yours came up before mine.
Obviously I would not have posted if yours had answered him.
Perhaps you would take this up Chris to save any duplication.
