Hi all, I am interested in this.   Just saw JimG's posting now.    My family history couldn't be more complicated and I have been on this forum before, with help.    Just a recap that my dad was raised a Shaw, in Clifton, on Hazelnut St .. in an adoptive situation back in 1911.   I have dna tested to no Shaws yet.   But I do have Boyds.   So I will look at this ..

In fact my dad's adoptive father was James Shaw too.   And a 'brother' was James Shaw.   The brother was a tailor.  Until I get a close dna match, it is unlikely I will solve this but I keep trying.

So I hope this thread doesn't die out yet!
Herbie

My Grandfather was James Shaw b.1879 Sligo, my G G Grandfather was a Robert Shaw from Co.Antrim.  Be nice to connect all the dots.
I used to be indecisive.   Now I'm not so sure.

Hi all ..  first of all a big thank you to JimG for his exhaustive work helping others, like me.    I have many trails to follow.
Deke, you tested on Ancestry.   Are you registered as Deke .. in other words how do I find you.    Would be interesting to see if we have any match or if you have gone over to Gedmatch, let me know your kit number.
cheers,Canadian Herbie

Hi Herbie I didn't use Gedmatch as it basically is a database for law enforcement, I have nothing to hide but don't like my files being accessed by any Tom.Dick or Harry.   As of Dec 2019 Gedmatch was taken over by Verogen a forensic science company.   I will message you with my ancestory details.
I used to be indecisive.   Now I'm not so sure.
