Has anyone come across a football team called Dunvilles F C. I think they were playing in the late 1920's through the 1930's. I dont think they had any connection with Distillery Football Club.?

Hello Whitenight,

Distillery Football Club was formed in 1880 by workers of the Dunville`s Distillery.
If you Google Dunville Football Club there is a lot of information.

Hi Jilly, thanks for your response. Distillery Football Club was indeed founded by the employees of Dunvilles Distillery and are still going, however Dunvilles Football Club were totally seperate and whilst very successful in the late 1920's and early 1930's they seemed to disappear about 1936, the same year Dunvilles ceased trading. I am trying to trace any of their history, in particular any photographs.

Just as a wee aside Dunville Whiskey is back on the market again , not sure who is distilling it but you can get it in Sainsbury’s.

Echlinville Distillery from Kircubbin are making Dunvilles whiskey and I see they are one of Distillery Football Club's sponsors, the back of their playing shirt has 'Dunvilles' on it so the Club were founded in 1879 in Dunvilles distillery and all those years later the name returns to the famous club.
