Another feather in the cap for the best boxing city in the world  ;)

Well done, Michael Conlan.

I'm not sure Michael has enough dynamite in his fists to be world champion, but he has terrific energy and technique.

Michael was phoned before the fight by Carl Frampton, sending best wishes.

Carl is not just Belfast's boxing icon, he is Ireland's boxing icon.

I have great respect for Carl, as a boxer and as a man.

He is his own man.

Carl, a protestant from Tigers Bay, married a catholic girl. He was given the opportunity to box for Britain but he chose to represent Ireland.

' commenting on his decision to box for the Irish team, Frampton, who grew up in a Unionist area of Belfast, said "I get asked all the time, 'would you have liked to have boxed for Great Britain?' And the answer is 'no'. I was looked after by Irish boxing from pretty much 11 years old and was very proud to box for Ireland." He added, "it's very humbling to know that so many people are supporting me from all over Ireland and mainland UK."

Everyone knows Carl doesn't have many fights left in the tank, one less after the fiasco in Philly.

I do hope he gets another crack at a world title fight to go out in style. It's always 100% with Carl.

No contest to any boxer.
