Martha S Nelson
« on: August 14, 2019, 11:32:09 AM »
Good day everyone.

I have a marriage for a Martha S Nelson. Marriage to John Boylan. 28 Dec 1904. https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1904/10217/5719017.pdf

Sadly John dies in 1907 at the grand old age of 80 years. According to his will, his wife is mentioned as Matilda Boylan not Martha.

I then found Martha in the 1901 census as a 34 single lady. http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Tyrone/Aghintain/Townagh/1726691/
Same place given as residence as for marriage certificate. Fathers name Thomas Nelson.

On the 1911 census it  states same residence and now a widow. (2 years married). Age 45 years. http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Tyrone/Aghintain/Townagh/856462/

Can anyone find a birth for this lady?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Martha S Nelson. dau of Thomas nelson    Marriage to John Boylan. 28 Dec 1904. d 1907 aged 80 but wife named Matilda in his will  I confirm this only refers to Matilda his wife no other beneficiary or witness is a Nelson.  John Boylan signs with his mark see  the 4 pages reproduced at https://apps.proni.gov.uk/WillsCalendar_IE/WillsSearchImage.aspx?id=250172    Killinahushogue County Tyrone Retired Farmer who died 13 April 1907
I searched at PRONI for Mary or Martha Boylanís will and was puzzled at not finding the expected unless she changed address etc

the detail of the marriage include her and his signatures with hers entered as Martha S?  Nelson in the parish of Clogher as per Presbyterian church licence https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1904/10217/5719017.pdf

I checked familysearch for births for Martha without success if you had searched it already that would have saved my time
I also checked genes reunited for births for Martha without success
I presume you have already searched https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/

Hi Jim, most of this information I have.
I did search the places you stated to no avail. Maybe she was born under a different name and that Martha-Matilda was her middle name. Who knows.

Thank you once again for the response.

Much appreciated as always.
