Emily Crooks nee Butler
« on: November 25, 2019, 01:06:35 PM »
Hi

Recently had some great help on this site, hoping someone can assist with my latest brick wall.

Emily Butler born c1895, we think in Yorkshire.  She married Thomas Crooks at St Annes church Belfast on Christmas Eve 1919.  Other than that, I can find nothing for her.  They have completely disappeared.  Can anyone help?

On her marriage certificate luckily enough she states her age as 20 which means she was born around 1899.

18. Belgrave St 1924 Crooks, Jos., labourer

No sign of the family in either M'Tier St or Belgrave St in 1918.

Yes, although I am taking it all with a pinch of salt.  I have 2 census records, which may or may not be the family in 1901 and 1911, and on both of those it would appear she was 4 in 1901 and 16 in 1911  ;)

Mmm! you have hit the usual dilemma illiteracy or the numerator filling out the form. Or both. Keep looking. I couldn't find burial records for them.

I may have more luck next year, if they had a child it will more than likely be in 1920 onward.  I wondered if they had gone to the States or Canada, but so far no luck with passenger lists.
