To be absolutely honest, the last time I was in it, I thought their Fish pretty poor. Certainly not what I am accustomed to, by any means. I wonder were the judges under the influence?  :D

I have no idea how the selection process for awards works - I can't see the judges visiting every chip shop in NI.  So you can only assume that a selected few are submitted as competitors.  If so, who selects the contenders?

'The Frying Squad in my area in Bangor has deservedly won awards.  It's good - but my favourite - McClements in Millisle is consistently good and never gets a mention.

Guess i,ll just have to dig out my fishing rod and swipe some of my neighbours spuds. How come some of those smelly kebab joints are opening again but the chippies are still shut? Are there rules about this?

I got a nice piece of cod and had a go at making a fish supper with mushy peas yesterday.  The chips and the boiled dried peas turned out okay but the fish batter was a disaster. I followed a James Martin recipe - can't work what I did wrong.  Terrible mess to clean up afterwards - the left over mushy peas spot welded to the pot.  I really, really miss my chippie.

I ordered a pizza from the Pizza Company in Ballyhackamore yesterday , paid by card over the phone and it was left at the door and very nice it was too . I’m not usually a big pizza fan but my fave Indian and Chinese are not delivering at the moment and I wanted something different from , pasta , rice and spuds and as it was my first takeaway since lockdown it hit the spot just nicely. It was a spicy pepperoni which I would highly recommend.
