I've emailed the Grand Orange Lodge, who will pass on my request to the relating area. Can I ask where I can access the newspaper clippings to search as you have? I appreciate all your help. It's given me a new direction to search.

https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/

Unfortunately it is a Subscription site, £79 sterling, approx $150 AUD

However, Ancestry & Findmypast also have access to archived newspapers but you would need to explore what is available and the associated costs.

🤫🤫🤫 I tell my wife that as I donít spend money on designer clothing then I can afford the £79 annual fee. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Absolutely fair enough 😉
I was wondering if you could use that newspaper search and find anything on Alexander Birnie Straid Hill (or any Birnie) and also William Stewart from Straid please? I'm now climbing a different branch until I can find any further information on the Wilmonts. Thanks.

This one is going to be virtually impossible if you cannot supply any further information.
I have looked at various newspaper reports that contain references to William Stewart and they range from mid 1800ís to late 1900ís. Any little snippet of date or name of farm etc would help pinpoint him.

Hmm not from my area, my mum came to Australia in the mid 1960s. William is definitely hard. The name is so common. All I know is he was the father of Sarah Stewart, occupation Farmer and from Ballynure area. His death I think was 8 June 1886. He married Margaret in 1833, he lived in Straid in 1827.
