Hmm not from my area, my mum came to Australia in the mid 1960s. William is definitely hard. The name is so common. All I know is he was the father of Sarah Stewart, occupation Farmer and from Ballynure area. His death I think was 8 June 1886. He married Margaret in 1833, he lived in Straid in 1827.

Excellent, now we have something to go on.... iíll Do some digging again

Taken from Griffiths Valuation,

Looks like Alexander & William had farms next door to each other

Yes this is him 😁 thank you. I have found that Griffith Valuation, loved knowing how Alexander and Sarah met. Assuming it was due to being neighbours and no doubt part of the same Church. I was a bit excited to find out my ancestors once lived at the same plantation where Game of Thrones was filmed (it's the little things these days lol)

I don't know how to upload, but I absolutely love it when you find information that 100% correlates. So William Stewart's will (which I've never found) has my Sarah Birnie mentioned - leaving her forty five pounds. I had her mum's name wrong, it is in fact Jane Stewart. And now I have found her brothers and sisters. I wonder what forty five pounds would have bought you in 1886? And the name of the farm - Straidland where he grew oats and potatoes. I seriously can't thank you enough.

It might be worth making contact with the Church and ask if any of your relations are buried there?

I've emailed the church like you suggested. I'm wondering do I email all the churches around the Irish Hill Road, Straid Road areas. I've just heard back from the secretary of the Carntall LOL who remembers one of my great great uncles. He said he will find a photo and put me into contact with his son. Which is just fantastic as I have never spoken to anyone from this side of the Wilmonts. I'm on a huge search of the Stewart's now I have more information. Finding all the brothers and sisters of my direct ancestors .

Hi Breadbasket. I'm pushing the friendship here. I was wondering if you could please do a search on the Logan's from Straidnahanna? Loganstown seems to have been the name of the original farm. There were birth marriages in Ballylinny, Ballynure. Catherine Elizabeth Logan born 1854, her father Samuel Logan born circa 1800+ her mother Eliza Logan nee Forsythe. The Logan's have been in Straidnahanna since the late 1600's. Thank you in advance.
