Taylor's / Mccomb Richhill -Armagh
« on: May 23, 2020, 05:56:41 PM »

Hi trying to do a bit of family research and wondered if anyone can help . My great grandmother was Rachel Taylor and she lived at Drumnasoo  she married a Robert McComb  who died at the age of 23 and they had one daughter Eleanor Agnes McComb. She later remarried an Issac Hayes.
Rachel was one of ten children and I'm trying to trace the Taylor side at the minute. I remember a Taylor living in the village that was related to my gran and they possibly buried with her in Kilmore Parish.

The family I'm looking for are Albert born 1903,Robert born 1901, Edmund born 1909, Harriett born 1907, James born 1911, Elsie born 1919, Annie Violet born 1917, Percy or Perry born 1916, Mary born 1919. I just wondering if any one out there possibly related to one of these people so I can fill in a few gaps in my research .

I can't find a son called john at all in the research .

Below is the headstone from the grave at Kilmore. With some of the names mentioned .unfortunately I have no family left to help with this .  Hopefully someone can help .

Hilary,

The headstone you referred to isnít attached to your e-mail.

I assume this is your Taylor family in 1911:

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Armagh/Aghory/Aghory/329507/

You say you canít find John. I assume you are searching for his birth? It appears to have been on 27.4.1905 at Ahorey (Aghory). Mothers mn recorded as Barry.

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1905/01787/1701567.pdf

Thereís a marriage for Edmund Taylor on 8.2.1933 regd in Armagh to Kathleen Woolsey; one for Albert Taylor on 18.12.1925 to a Martha McDowell, regd Armagh; one for Harriett Taylor to a Mr Rea in Belfast on 25.9.1930. I canít say whether these are your family but the ages look reasonable and the forenames are sufficiently rare for them to be possibles. You can view the original certificates on-line on the GRONI website, using the ďsearch registrationsĒ option:

https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk

You will need to open an account and buy some credits. It costs £2.50 (sterling) to a view a certificate.

GRONI has the Perry/Percy birth in 1916 indexed under Terry.  DOB 24.1.1916.

Is this of any assistance:
Record Type Civil Marriage
Date of Marriage 11 Nov 1898
Groom Name James TAYLOR
Bride Name Mary PERRY
Church Richhill Church of Ireland
Parish Kilmore
Civil District Armagh
County Armagh

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1898/10431/5798134.pdf

It looks like the Mothers surname for "John" was transcribed wrongly
All the other births have mothers name as "Perry".

Thankyou all for the help and sorry for the confusion  I was lead to believe my grandmother and great grandmother was buried with my great grandmothers parents .

I am confused mind you not hard to do . So Mary Millar or millas as they seem to have used possibly had another daughter Isabella born 19th January 1884 ,I found her will Mary Millar as the mother thinking this possible another daughter and sister to Rachel and James Taylor .

I can find any thing for her in the 1911 census or a death notice or marriage for her.
