My grandfather & Jimmy's father - Samuel - were brothers.  I would be keen to re-establish contact with relatives.

Hi there,
You may get a better response if you can supply a bit more information
Eg, age of Jimmy & Samuel,
Where did they live,
What years did he box,
Any dates of birth, marriages, deaths,
Occupations,
Schools,
Churches,
Any bit of information is better than none and it will assist greatly.

👍🏼

Bread Basket, thank you, good advice.  That is indeed the right Jimmy Brown.

The info that I know is:
- his father was Samuel Finlay Kitchener Crozier (adopted as Brown) born Castle Sq, Bangor, 9 Nov 1914.  He had four young siblings, his mother died a month after he was born, and his father was a Sergeant in 5th RIR, hence the adoption.
- Samuel married Elizabeth McWilliams Crozier (!) born 12 Aug 1914, Spamount St, Belfast on 11 Dec 1933.  I have unfortunately no idea where they lived/died.
- According to the boxing website Jimmy was born 22 Nov 1934.  He boxed from 1955 - 1964, including a losing bout for the British Weatherweight Title in 1957, and won the NI Lightweight title the next year.  He died in Yorkshire in Oct 1995, at the age of 60, and was described in his Belfast Telegraph obituary as a "Shore Road lad".

I don't know if Jimmy was an only child, or what family he had himself, but would be very grateful for any/all information.  I'm a Grandson of Samuel's brother Walter Crozier.

Thank you.

Bread Basket, thank you, aware that Samuel's father was Walter, he is my Great Grandfather & I have tracked the family back a fair bit before that. That may be Samuel living on Knocknagoney Road, but if so why would Jimmy be described as a "Shore Road lad"?  I don't know for sure, but suspect Samuel, like his surviving brothers Walter, Archibald & Frederick had joined up at the outbreak of the Second World War.
Definitely isn't either of my Walters in Mount Prospect Park - senior was living in Hazelbrook Avenue in Bangor in 1943 & junior, living in Castle Street Bangor, was away fighting Rommel.I know a fair bit of the family history, but unfortunately know next to nothing about Samuel/Elizabeth & their child(ren), including obviously Jimmy.

Grumpy.  just to let you know that before anyone can use the PM method of contact, the user must make a minimum amount of posts, I think it is 5 but not 100% sure.... to get over that I suggest that you make a few posts on this thread to enable the system.  same advice to Emma,

Good luck

Bread Basket,
As before, thank you for your help & advice.  Looked like I could PM, looked like I had PM'd, but couldn't find any trace in my messages, hence my caution.  I've had a look through the forum "Rules" etc & can't find any info - could be 5 posts, could be 25 posts, so will take a different approach.
Thank you.
Grumpy
