WJ Irvine frame shop on Ann St
« on: July 02, 2020, 09:08:14 PM »
My great grandad, James Rafferty, was a picture frame maker/gilder. He worked at Irvineís at 38/40 Ann Street. I have a newspaper from 1935 with a photo of my Great Grandad hanging a painting at the Ulster Museum for the Royal Ulster Academy Exhibition. Unfortunately since I am a new member and having difficulty uploading photos, I cannot currently post it. Hopefully I can add it soon.
Iím wondering if anyone know anything about Irvineís or about my great grandad.

It's very quick and easy to do, once one has used it.

Adding to my WJ Irvine Post
Someone from another group I belong to found these great newspaper items. One is an advisement for the frame shop. The other is an article about a fire at one of Irvineís shops and how he, as a boss, helped keep his employees working and with wages. The employees celebrated him by having a get together and presenting him with a gift of thanks. My grandad was one of the employees. Very nice article. I hope you will be able to read it-second column from the right.
