"GAA returns to unionist East Belfast"

"We're just about sport. And bringing people together. Dialogue is important but that's all we really are is a sport bringing people together," said Mr McGreevy."

"The club's new president is Irish language enthusiast Linda Irvine, who is from a unionist background in East Belfast."

No, in Dublin it is usually pronounced, the Gaa. (one word) instead of the three letters G A A.

Correct me if I'm wrong , but is this new GAA Club pronounced 'GAY' ?
From what perspective do you get GAA pronounced as GAY

You should ignore Stickleback's post - it's just a poor wind up.

Fair comment.

Guilty as charged.

The bit about ' all genders welcome' is the bit that throws me. Like what does it matter ?

Hello. I'm Aiden, ( or maybe George ).

Club: Welcome Aiden ( or George) can you please let us know your sexual preference ?

Player: Why?

Club: Because we are sexually inclusive.

Player: I'm only here to play the game. Everything else is none of your business.

Club ( i suspect, two weeks later): We are sorry to tell you that your application to join us has been declined on this occasion.

Player: Why ?

Club: Because you refused to disclose your sexuality. We are an all inclusive club.

I think that you are reading too much into that statement. My take on it is that they have both a men's football team and a ladies football team. No hurling nor camogie as far as I know.

I get your point, but I don't think they intended things the way you interpreted.
Though it does sound like Sinn Fein speak. 🙄
I wonder sometimes if expressing this kind of lgbt stuff is a requirement/necessity in accessing funds from certain sources??Hmm 😉🙄

True , neanderthals ... like the neanderthals in Londonderry these last four days and the bonfire defenders from the Divis area.  but of course this has been described as ' Anti - Social Behaviour ... but the dogs in the street know its sectarianism ...  ;)
