Valente Family Help
« on: August 31, 2020, 03:25:33 PM »
I've recently started my Family Tree out of boredom during lockdown. I'm fully invested now and have gotten so far with a lot of information. However, I'm lacking information on my Granada's granny. My Granada knows very little about his granny, only knowing that her name is Mary Valente, she moved to Belfast from Italy with her family, they owned an ice-cream shop and that she married her husband James Tierney. Any information on her past, her parents, dates, photos or anything would be a great help.  :)

Also, there are a few other Valentes on this forum and I hope they come forward as they have photos that they can share with you.

Take a look in the "Search" section of the forum for Valente and it will bring up other threads for the same family.  ;)

Domenico Valente & Teresa Capitano came to Ireland from Italy (Mary's Parents)
They got married in 1887
These are Mary's siblings:

They had their first child Anthony in 1886 who married Annie McStravick in 1906
Carmine born in 1888 who married Maria Theresa Cascarina in 1907
Francesco born in 1890 who married Henrietta Magee in 1910
Maria (Mary) was born in 1892 married James Tierney in 1913
Monica Carina (Minnie) born in 1897 who married Thomas O'Toole in 1913
William Angelo was born in 1899 (passed away)
Angelina was born possibly 1900 who married Vittorio Emmanuele Angelone (travelled back to Italy to get married and came back to Belfast and settled)
William Angelo was born in 1901 (passed away)

There are Valentes on this Forum with a lot more information and photos.  If you are on Facebook, there is a group called "Victors Cafe (Belfast, NI)". There are a good few photos on there too and quite a lot of Valentes.

Hope that helps  ;)

You are more than welcome Aims. I didn't do much research on the Valente side of things, I only know the basics. There are others who have been doing research for almost 30 years who will have a lot more detail. My Father's Mother is a Valente but I'm researching my Father's paternal line.  Every now and again I dip into the Valente side of the tree to see what I can find though lol.

It's all very interesting. Enjoy the journey and I do hope others who have the info are still on the forum and can help you out more.

Hi, would you possibly know in what town in Italy Dominico and Teresa were from?
