The William Skelton, Cabinet Maker,  that JimG highlights is as below.  However this William died in May 1845 but note the name of Mrs Anne Skelton.
Was Anne the Wife of William, or his Sister in Law?
Your William’s Wife was Bridget
I’m not convinced that a Sister in Law would have been appointed as the receiver of money’s owed or debts
Which points that the cabinet maker MAY not be the William being sought.
But there again Anne MAY have been the sister in law

Can you shed any light
Was there ever any talk of cabinet making?

Just thought of another option.
Bridget MAY not have been his wife’s name, it MAY have been Anne 👍🏼😂

Hello “Skelton” again the thought drives me to ask who was your ggrandfather?
“breadbasket” your Flabbergasting info ending with a cautionery gulp catch your breath and start again note!  >:D

St Annes is the now cathedral of the Church of Ireland and also a known centre for mixed religious marriages. the Skelton in all Ireland in the 1911 census had 184 Catholics, 94 Presbyterians, 81 Church of Ireland, 6 quakers,5 Methodists,1 Church of England, Salvation Army and one protestant independent

the most important ways forward is to acquire that wedding detail from St Annes ie church of Ireland to me that’s the only key you don’t have unless you know more about your ggrandfather so please respond ???
PRONI Guide to church records gives as opening entry
C.I. St Anne’s, Shankill (Connor diocese) Baptisms, 1745-1901; special baptisms, 1817-66; marriages, 1745-1900; burials, 1745-71, 1784-1809 and 1824-65,1878 and 1883; index to baptisms, 17451866 and 1872-84, to marriages, 1745-1823, and to burials, 1745-1812. with microfilm records refs MIC583/18-23; MIC1/178 if you could get access direct at St Annes by phone email or letter you might be quicker than hiring someone to search PRONI as it reopens either way you will have charges unless eg familysearch.org acquired a copy go to your nearest Mormon Church ie The Church of latter day Saints

another is to check all children with father William Skelton as listed in births/baptisms in
ancestryireland [ ignoring those before 1800] and stop 1860 examples or you could do the same with family search

JimG.  I think you may have mis-read or mis-interrupted my emoji. It was certainly not meant to suggest that you were wrong, it was simply highlighting the different names, Bridget & Anne. If Bridget is the definite wife then the GGG Grandfather is not the cabinet maker.

breadbasket, because I don’t read everything carefully sometimes and names of one older generation get muddled up with the next generation, please believe me I was just enjoying using an  angry thingmeblob for the first time,  it was aimed really and truly at myself.and it burst.
As usual , your you latest image produces the death notice of William the batchelor whose mother was had a witness Joseph Skelton of  46 Albion Place. which immediately produces more questions so I am wondering if this Joseph is anther son of William Skelton,
so following up a little bit more on Josephs:-

in 1901
7 in Antrim Road (Clifton Ward, Belfast, Antrim)
Skelton Joseph 58 [so b 1826-7] Male Head of Family Presbyterian City of Belfast Linen Merchant Read and write English Married
Skelton Sarah 56 Female Wife Presbyterian Co Antrim - Read and write English Married -
children
Skelton William 24[b~1876-7 ]Male Son Presbyterian City of Belfast Manager Linen Merchant Read and write English Not Married -
Skelton Ruth 14 Female Daughter Presbyterian City of Belfast Attending School Read and write English Not Married -
note a 24 year old already a manager I think some presbyterian burial place might contain Skeltons.

1907 lennonwylie.co.uk
Skelton, Chas., butcher, 93 Beersbridge Road and 29 Castlereagh Road
Skelton, John, superintendent steward, Belfast Steamship Company Ltd. - 72 University Avenue
Skelton, Jos., & Co., linen and handkerchief manufacturers, 11, 13 Gloucester Street; res., Joseph Skelton, 252 Antrim Road
Skelton, Robert, manager, 149 Castlereagh Road
Skelton, Saml., 2 Church Crescent, Ballysillan
Skelton, S. J., secretary, 3 Glenview Terrace, Ballysillan
Skelton, Thos., clerk, 31 Mountcollyer Avenue
Skelton, T. J., florist and fruiterer, 156 Lisburn Road; also at Cranmore Nursery, Bawnmore Road
Skelton, Wm., traveller, 8 Lower Windsor Avenue

turning back to your
could the marriage of a Bridget dau of a William , named perhaps after her mother, introduce the possibility that William was from Armagh originally, certainly some Skeltons existed in the County

Great digging JimG.  loads of stuff there.
Glad you mentioned Ros Davies.... her research and records are second to none.  if our original poster replies and gives any hint of Steltons from Downpatrick then I have a treat in store.  a whole page newspaper report of Skeltons from mid 1700’s.  .
Come on Skelton, as JimG says get back here and reveal some detail please.
