Cemetery lookup request
« on: March 02, 2008, 12:14:06 AM »
I have just received information with the exact date of death for my GGF.  He was buried in Milltown Cemetery.

JOHN CARROLL
17/08/1904

If anyone going to Milltown, would it be possible to take a look for the grave?  It is possible his wife is buried there also- her name is Maria.

Thank you!

If you DO get a chance, I would be extremely appreciative.  I have ordered his death certificate - it would be interesting to know who else is in the grave.  Do the headstones list a date of birth?  I am almost at my brick wall

Thanks,
Kate

Hi Kate, Thought this might help you.
If you contact the Parks and Cemeteries Department in Belfast City Hall with the date of death they will be able to look up their records and give you the grave and section number and the names of others buried in that grave.
Good luck !!

Hi Kate, Try this site for old Belfast street directories, it's brilliant.

Thanks, Townharry - I  found the website http://www.belfastcity.gov.uk/cemeteries/index.asp?menuitem=City-Cemeteries.

Unfortunately, in the list of cemeteries managed by the City Council, Milltown is not there.  I can contact them anyway to see what happens

Hi Kate,
This info should do the trick... Milltown Cemetery Office
546 Falls Road Belfast BT12 6EQ
Northern Ireland
Tel: 44-28-9061-3972
Now you can contact them directly, apparently records are held on site so they should be able to give you a quick answer.
Hope that helps.
