Gibson family Glenwood Street
« on: December 21, 2020, 03:19:35 AM »
Hi there.

Iím looking into my family history and specifically the Gibson family who lived on Glenwood Street off Shankhill.

My grandfather moved away in the 30/40s (we think)  but we donít know much about his life in Belfast. His father was William Gibson and his mother Hessie/Hester Kirkpatrick.

We know he had 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

But not much is known about the Gibson family.

Any help would be very much appreciated

Good morning Aoife & welcome to the Forum.
Most people when they start searching for relatives tend to forget to give as much information as possible, to begin we need you to supply your grandfathers name. Things like dates of birth, rough age if date of birth is not known, schools or churches attended, occupation, girlfriends name, partner or wife etc, names of his children etc etc... any snippet is better than none.

Good luck with your search.

More than likely this is your Great Grandfather William from the 1943 Street Directory

Hi there

Thank you for the help.

My grandfather was called Thomas Gibson. DOB was September 1914.

As I mentioned we know little else. But we do know the following though.
Family were prodistant
Siblings were Hester, Robert, William and Betsy. All passed away before he did except Hester who lived to Australia.

His Parents William and Hester were married at St Anneís.
Thomasí mother Hesters maiden name was Kirkpatrick.

We have no idea what his life would have been like growing up on Belfast and of any extended Family. We have 2 pictures of his mother and some siblings But non of his father or sister Betsy.

Any information would be wonderful
