Royal Irish Rifles of 1891
« on: March 27, 2021, 04:24:24 PM »
Hi All

I've recently come across a document regarding a family member signing up for The Royal Irish Rifles on 16th April 1891.

Where can I look for further information about this persons service records? If that's a thing that can be done.

Thank you.

You could start here. https://www.forces-war-records.co.uk/units/305/royal-irish-rifles/
Ancestry have good military records covering this period.

If you are in Belfast go to the RIR museum in Waring St. They are very helpful and should have his service record.

Thank you ever so much haonghusa. I got an email this afternoon from a lovely lady at the RIR museum, with full service records attached. Amazing detail. Plenty of information, photos of the medals he would have received etc.
