lost grandmother

  hi  I've been searching for info on my lost grandmother roberta horner and finally have received information that  she was in the workhouse in lisburn road in 1928 where she had a son,  she entered the workhouse at the tender age of 21years old ( this info made me cry, to think that a poor girl  had no option other than this)on the 12th November 1927 and was there for 11weeks, after the birth of her child, she was discharged on the 24th Jan 1928 she obviously was taken in by someone maybe the father of the child? this child was my father William Horner. I would be very grateful if anyone has any information that might help me link my fathers  past together . On the official paper i have received from the records office it states that roberta was from the Presbyterian faith  and that the father of the child was from the Catholic faith so please if you think you might have the slightest of info or your from the horner family i would be eternally grateful for your help at being able to recognise this lady as my  lost grandmother many thanks  gabby

There's a five year old Roberta listed at 16, Jamaica Street (Clifton, Antrim)

Horner Roberta 5 Female

Just in case you think Robert and Agnes are your mother's parents, here are two marriages which might be them:

Robert Horner to Agnes Bovill

and
30 January 1903 in Sinclair Seamens Presbyterian Church,Shankill,Belfast

Gabby - Jamaica Street was in Ardoyne, a Catholic area.  I lived in Havana Street, next street over.

That wasn't uncommon Rosemary - we had people of both religions in our street.

Can I ask how you got the info about the parents age when entering the Workhouse?
