The Bush Turkeys
« on: May 21, 2008, 12:46:00 PM »
23rd May 22:00

The Rotterdam Bar, 52-54, Pilot Street, Belfast.

Admission: 5

The Bush Turkeys is a collaboration with Ludwig O'Neill and his bassist Ali Mackenzie (Bush Turkeys, ReefeRadio, Jim Armstrong Band, Belfast Blues Band, Jim Gilchrist, Janet Holmes, Flange band)... They will be performing a range of tunes from The Bush Turkeys classics to the contemporary Reeferadio songs to the freshest Ludiwg compositions. (Not to mention the odd carefully chosen cover song) These guys would really appreciate your mutual appreciation!

Wow !!!! I didn't realise the Bush Turkeys were still going. I have one of their tracks on my wedding video ( 1992) called I never felt like this before and I always loved it. Ali used to be a neighbour of mine years ago when we both lived in Lower Ballinderry. He is such a lovely guy. Please let us know if there's any more gigs lined up as I'd love to go see them. O0 O0

I heard Robert is playing occasionally somewhere in Ireland.

He's not a member of MySpace

By the way there are sevaral RootsChatters who have posted queries about their rellies and ancestors who were musicians. We still need info on Greta Someone from Belfast who married Jack McKechnie who played with the Hedley Ward Trio. This is aimed at older Forum members or their Mums or Dads if they're still living. If you're aged around fifty you may not have heard of the Hedley Ward Trio.

Thanks billni.

That's a Festival I didn't follow up.

One of my MySpace friends ... I think it was Anthony Toner ... played at that Festival.

During his chat with Lisa Flavelle, on her programme on Downtown Radio, Ludwig told her that there may be a reunion of the Bush Turkeys sometime next year.
