Now the attractive "Pavillion" is just "stuck" onto a modern apartment block. There's this cream coloured concrete and glass block, with the red brick building joined on at one end.

BNF, "BUT the curzon apartments" what?

The apartments may be OK for those residents sitting inside looking out, but they are not in character with the adjacent buildings, i.e. the Pavillion and the Errigle, both of which are "olde worlde" in looks.

IMHO, whoever gave permission for that cream block to be constructed deserves to be whipped and put in the stocks.

An old Ballynafeigh woman here, what a trip down memory lane, I remember all those shops,  anyone remember Miss Brittan a tiny wee woman worked in the newsagents next to Grahams Butchers ?  my stop off on a Tuesday coming home from Ulidia School to get my weekly comic cos it was family allowance day  :)
My favourite shop was the Ideal they sold bags of gold  and knickerbocker glories  :-* anyone remeber those ? Oh ! remember Mr Brooks sweet shop up near the Orange Hall he always wore a leather glove to hide his artificial hand ?
Joe's cafe was another place I spent a lot of time in somewhere near the Orange Hall I think.

My Friend worked in Borza Joes for many years one of the Mcgarrigles from Florence Drive she stilled lived there up until a few months ago.

There's not many old neighbours left there any more.

Joes was on the corner of Haypark Avenue.

What about Kingsmores my older sisters hung out there.

The Mc Garrigles, Mick the father was a policeman, the son was Martin and I remember the girls but not the names...the eldest girl was tall thin and good looking.
