Went past there recently on a visit to Belfast. Wierd - the building has vanished without a trace, with all its ghosts - Da Langley, Rafferty, Kennedy, White, Miss McCollum. Class pics very welcome - I recognise myself and so many others yet can hardly put a name to anyone.

Hi Kevin.
Must have been strange for you sometimes, being the son of the head. Do you remember swimming lessons in the Ormeau Baths with Mr Kennedy? Most useful thing I ever learnt  at school.

The new Holy Rosary school opened in Sept.1966 and an extension was started almost immediately. Joe Cahill was the site foreman. The old school stayed open until the extension was finished, although the Club closed as a school then.

Interesting. Left Rosario in '57 to Barrack St. Left Belfast in '67. Back a few times since but not often down Sunnyside St. Still, weird that it's gone.

Hi Hughie D, most of the names of your class are on the repeat photo on page 3. Bart McCormac was able to place most of the names including your own.

There must be some more Rosario class photos out there. Don't let this thread move too far back in the pages.

 Hello Dub,

Good to see old school photos of any school. :)   Was the Pat O'Hare in your photos the Pat O'Hare who played basketball for Rosario and Ardglass.

I'm patient with stupidity but not with those who are proud of it ...

Hi SJ, yes he is  the same Pat O'Hare. I haven't seen him for over 40 years but my brother was at a function about a year ago and Pat was there.  I will meet up with you in Belfast when you make your final trip home in June.
  All the best, Dub.

Thanks Dub....and hopefully we can meet Jessie in Dublin.

When I was at the Slieve Donard I turned up at training with Ardglass Sharks and I knew a couple of people there and then Paddy walked in  ..he was a great bloke and I always assumed that he was a country bloke who came to live in Belfast and it is a surprise to see him in this photo at such a young age.

He had a very high powered job at the time ? ;) and I was 21 yrs old so I assumed that he was a few years older.

Hi,
Would anyone have a pic of Rosario boys around 1951 or 52?  My class would include Gerry Burns,Freddy MacKenna,Maurice Wright.
The one with Da White in it was a year behind me I think.Heres hoping as I don't have any Rosario pics at home.

Hi Barry, Do you recognize any one, in the other Rosario class photos?  If so can you put names on them?   I find it hard to believe that there are not more photos out there.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   All the best, Dub.

The photo was taken for either first holy communion or confirmation and my guess is it was either 1953 or 1955. Some more possible names:
2nd row 7th from left - David Woods (Knockbreda Road)
2nd row 9th from left - Gerry Mooney
2nd row 4th from left - Brendan McKenna

Correction to earlier post: Hugh Dougal (Galwally Park)

That's the best I can do.

PS Who is Dub?
