1947 The Education (Northern Ireland) Act
« on: May 26, 2008, 07:03:32 PM »
The Education (Northern Ireland) Act 1947 was closely modelled on the Butler Act. The main tenets of the act were that education would be compulsory for all children up to the age of fifteen. Grants for third level education were also introduced which opened the doors to the universities to many less well-off people. http://cain.ulst.ac.uk/issues/educ/ei1947.htm
