Forum Rules and Policies
« on: August 18, 2007, 02:23:42 AM »
By using this Forum you agree to the following terms:

• No hostility. All discussions must be friendly and civil.

• No posts or pm's attacking other members. Teasing or jesting between forum friends is fine, but it must be in an obviously friendly manner with a smiley to make it clear you are joking. If it is clearly hostile or between people who clearly dislike each other then it will be considered an attack. If someone complains about being teased then both sides must stop immediately.

• No sectarianism. This means not posting anything that praises or criticises any prominent group (or person) on either side of the sectarian divide.

• No threats of physical violence.

• No inflammatory posts. No controversial, offensive or otherwise disruptive posts which are likely to provoke others into a hostile argument.

• No racism.

• No lying.

• No posts of an 'adult' nature.

• No swearing. Don't 'hide' swearing by replacing certain letters with others or inserting spaces.

• No spamming. Do not post or send unsolicited pm's advertising something or promoting another website without the permission of the administrator.

• No defamatory posts.

• No copyrighted material. Do not post or upload any material protected by copyright without the permission of the owner of the copyright. You shall be solely liable for any damage resulting from any such infringement of copyright.

• No more than one membership per person. Do not register or use more than one username per user. People from the same household sharing the same internet connection will need to disclose their relationship to the forum.

• No proxies. Your IP address must belong to your Internet Service Provider.

• No mod-bashing. Do not question, mock, criticise or complain about moderators or their decisions on the boards. The moderators will happily discuss individual decisions at length by PM only and if there has been misunderstanding then posts can be undeleted and restored to the forum.

• Do not publish any personal information about another member (eg real name, address, email address) unless they have stated they are happy for it to be posted. Please respect the privacy of other members. Do not publish an email or pm that someone has sent you privately.

Posts that break the above rules will be deleted. For blatant or persistent offences a number of warnings will be given before issuing a ban. The number of warnings issued will depend on the seriousness of the incident(s) as deemed by the moderators. In some cases no warnings may be issued at all before banning.

The moderators reserve the right to delete any content they regard as inappropriate. When posts are deleted an explanation may or may not be given depending on how obvious the problem is. If you notice one of your posts has been deleted and do not know why, please pm the moderators for an explanation.

The staff or the owners of this forum do not continually monitor the posted messages, and as such, are not responsible for the content contained within. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information presented. The posted messages express the views of the author, and not necessarily the views of this forum, its staff, its subsidiaries, or this forum's owner. Anyone who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to notify the administrators of this forum immediately. The staff and the owner of this forum reserve the right to remove objectionable content, within a reasonable time frame, if they determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, please realise that they may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately. This policy applies to member profile information as well.

You remain solely responsible for the content of your posted messages. In no event will the staff or owners of this site or any person or entity involved in distributing the site, be liable for any damages including, without limitation, indirect or consequential damages, or any damages arising out of or in connection with the use of this site. Furthermore, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the owners of this forum, any related websites to this forum, its staff, and its subsidiaries.

HOW DO WE USE COOKIES ON THIS WEBSITE?
We use files known as cookies on this website to improve its performance and to enhance your user experience. By using this website you agree that we can place these types of files on your device.

WHAT ARE COOKIES?
Cookies are small text files that a website may put on your computer, or mobile device, when you first visit that site or one of its pages.

There are many functions that a cookie can serve. For example, a cookie will help the website, or another website, to recognise your device the next time you visit it. This website uses the term "cookies" in this policy to refer to all files that collect information in this way.

Certain cookies contain personal information – for example, if you click on "remember me" when logging on, a cookie will store your username. Most cookies will not collect information that identifies you, but will instead collect more general information such as how users arrive at and use this website, or a user’s general location.

WHAT SORT OF COOKIES DOES THIS WEBSITE USE?
Cookies can perform several different functions:

1. Necessary Cookies
Some cookies are essential for the operation of this website. These cookies enable services you have specifically asked for.

2. Performance Cookies
These cookies may collect anonymous information on the pages visited. For example, we might use performance cookies to keep track of which pages are most popular, which method of linking between pages is most effective and to determine why some pages are receiving error messages.

3. Functionality Cookies
These cookies remember choices you make to improve your experience. This website may also allow third parties to serve cookies that fall into any of the categories above. For example, like many sites, we may use Google Analytics to help us monitor our website traffic.

CAN A USER BLOCK COOKIES?
To find out how to manage which cookies you allow, see your browser’s help section or your mobile device manual - or you can visit one of the sites below, which have detailed information on how to manage, control or delete cookies.

www.aboutcookies.org
www.allaboutcookies.org

COOKIES ON THIS WEBSITE FROM SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES

Reporting Posts

I am not able to monitor all the posts on BF. If there is a post which you think is against the rules, please report it to me to look at. If it against the rules it will be dealt with. Please do not argue about it on the boards as the threads just descend into anarchy with personal attacks flying everywhere.

However I need to see 1st hand the offending posts before acting against someone. I am not prepared to act on hearsay allegations without seeing evidence of what they have done.

I am at my PC most of the day and get an email when someone reports a post. The only caveat is it is impossible for me to reply easily to 'report to moderator' alerts. If you want a reply or wish to discuss it, please report it via pm.

New board - The Troubles, NI politics, and associated topics.
« Reply #3 on: July 12, 2010, 07:02:16 PM »
In recent weeks there has been a plethera of topics digging up old issues regarding the conflict. These controversial topics usually get very ugly with many posts being deleted and topics being locked due to inflammatory remarks and baiting, A number of people have received warnings and/or placed on post moderation as a result. The topics are spread over different boards, so now is the time to keep all these topics in one place, so that people can choose whether or not to subscribe to the new board. Not everyone wants to be reminded of these issues so the board will be hidden by default. Anyone who is interested in these topics can subscribe to the board by going your profile then clicking on "Group Membership".
