Hi,

Does anyone know if there has ever been a history written of The Sacred Heart Church, on the Oldpark Road?

Thanks.

In 1906 James K. O'Neill was appointed Parish Priest.
James K. Canon O'Neill also founded in 1915 in Belfast
The Order of the Knights of  Saint Columbanus.

Was there a Sacred Heart chapel in Belfast North? I believe my great-grandparents married there in 1896. Is it still there?
Do the people of Glocca Morra wonder how things are here?

Trickypaul, the Sacred Heart Church is in North Belfast but it was'nt built until 1905, if your family where living in the area in 1896 they more than likely they married in  Holy Cross church on the Crumlin Road.

I've had a look at the marriage certificate and posted part of it here. Maybe there was another Sacred Heart? Presumably this Sacred Heart chapel is near where they lived in North Queen Street?

Does that say Belfast No 1, if so the Sacred Heart church is in Belfast No. 10, and theres only 1 Sacred Heart in Belfast. Belfast No.1 R.C. churches could  be either St. Joseph's or St. Patrick's

I just can't understand why they put Sacred Heart on the cert unless it's a mistake, found Annie's birth and she was from the New Lodge road, so again St Patrick's would of been her parish.
